Daughters be good to your fathers

I realize I am a day late for a Father’s Day post, but I believe every day should be Father’s Day. And Mother’s Day. I would not be the person I am today without these two incredible people. I consider myself more than lucky, more than blessed, and my goal each day is to speak to them, if only for a moment. To say hello. To ask what they are doing. Did you see the game last night? And my lifetime goal is to ensure they know how important they are to me. All I am I owe to my father and mother.

My father is my role model of all that is good in a man, of all a man can aspire to be. He is wealthy in friendships, he is rich in respect. He is a coach, a teacher, a mentor, and friend. His values, his work ethic, his kind heart are legendary. And I can’t imagine sitting next to anyone else at a Shocker game.

With Father’s Day I am always reminded of a quote by the late, great Jimmy Valvano. Being a sports oriented family, who else would I quote with regards to my Dad? Jimmy V. once said “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person: he believed in me.”

And I will always believe in him.
